Don't get down on yourself! The little lady redhead is using physics against you. Her virtual lack of weight makes it easy for her. It's why she can have an exoskeleton too... weight is a cube, "skin" a square (surface) yet most power/pull just based on the length of a lever arm, or perhaps the square of a frictional surface area, such as a foot or wing. I.e., weight overwhelms and turns us "heavies" into readers of spiderman and builders of space shuttles. :)

Fantastic photos and story.

Great photos! I love that it was holding on with one leg, one foot. It looks so effortless. I'm with you: I'd be scrambling with every limb I have trying to find a good grip.

I'll add I've been there before with watching an insect clean a body part while I wondered if it was eating something. Then again, I've also watched them eat something while I thought they were bathing. It would be much easier if my eyes had built-in zoom.

I love how you look at things, you show me what I want to see. I love the detail and follow-through. You are my kinda gal!
Whatever happened to the little kitty that was so thin, the one that was monogramming the towels?
In summer I go to the Rockies in Idaho, we have a tiny bog orchid there. One of life's lovely treats!
Thank you for such a wonderful blog.

What a beautiful nature "walk" - I remember doing this sort of thing with school groups while working with BC Parks. It's always amazing the amount of diversity that can be found in such a small square of earth. It does make you realize what can be missed while blithely strolling along yakking.
