Thanks, winterwoman, and Michele. And you both have great blogs as well!

Horsin'around: that sounds familiar. It's true that would be pretty failproof.

Lavenderbay: I do recall using dandelions as well. Also smearing a dandelion along your forearm, leaving a yellow smudge. Can't remember what that was. Maybe that the dandelion "peed" on you? A child would be a great excuse to play without getting strange looks (though I admit it probably wouldn't stop me from playing anyway, if the urge overcame me :) ).

Yes, Horsin' around has the answer, although when I was a kid we used the more easily-found dandelions.
It's always good to have the occasional child, either manufactured or borrowed, to have an excuse to do childish things. I still like a good game of Pooh-sticks, the most recent competitions being above the Don River, on the footbridge that joins the two sides of Riverdale Park.

Re: for instance, buttercups - kids pick them and hold them under their chin to see if their chin glows yellow… which means something.
I think it is just supposed to mean you like butter. Which is pretty failproof, 'cause how many people don't?
